Retinal Persistence now and then

Scientists orignally thought retinal persistence was caused by slow movement of the frames in the camera, and the mind saw flashing pictures. But we know thats not true becasue at higher rates of frames per second the retinal persistence is not prevalent as much. The slow frames caused a flicker affect like in a flip book. The sensitivity of a persons peripheral vision will give different degrees of retinal persistence, or the viewing of the picture that you mind still sees even though the frame has passed.

Abelardo Morell Money Bags

Stacks on Stacks on Stacks. In 200 Abelardo Morrel photographed 40,000 dollars cash. Whered he find all this doe? Money in itself is an artwork and to pile it up like that puts a smile on my face. The 40 G's is currently the new background to my labtop because not only does it look cool, but at the same time it reminds me that money is only paper. The real wealth is the stacks of gold bars, only 15 G's, still a nice chunk. Than to top it all off,Abelardo dropped the Francs on us...all 94 million of them in a colorful display of dough.

His recent work on the other hand is fascinating; how he put a city skyline in a bedroom. Or did he put a bedroom in a city skyline. Its unique to have your rooom decorated that way and have the ability to change cities would be awesome. It would feel like your somewhere else everytime, even though you never left your bed.

Angel Dequinta Broadway Clips

Technology is important in the broadway play to make elaborate backgrounds and represent different scene environments. Technology transforms the broadway stage into a real life play-land for the actors and the audience to feel like their watching a motion picture and making the art as natural as possible. The ultimate enjoyment of the technology is the element of surprise it offers to the audience.

Follies (2011 Broadway Revival)- Preview http://youtu.be/-BXKfT5FQ3E
26 seconds in the background lighting is blue, however the spotlight is a pink/red color giving the singer more glow and uniqueness which caught my eye. Than in the same video 11 seconds later the group of dancing Follie choreographed kicks and pretending to smoke while crossing the stage in front of a color changing cloud background that deepens in red which is like the fire of the cigarette.

So in love Rachel York http://youtu.be/i31KAYUWRSc
The entire video Rachel sings about love in her room while the light captures shadows of her pacing in her room and in her lovers room next door. Shadows represent the night in this instance and give the scene a lonely feeling.

Too Darn Hot (Dance Sequence)- Kiss Me, Kate http://youtu.be/Y8akvxDJQVc
From the second minute to the fifth the mural of the sky with clouds is originally light oranges and purples than fades into darkness as a night scene, maybe if they weren't dancing about how hot they were they would be a little cooler.

Tony Awards 2009 West Side Story http://youtu.be/d_lbeersIS4
In this excerpt of West side story, long shimmering material dangles down from the top of the gym/stage.
Than changes color in the fourth minute when a guy and girl get a close up for a private dance. At the same time of this the entire stage went from red to blue.

Topol in Fiddler on the Roof (first video)  http://youtu.be/ZX-zTAgK5HA
At the 45 second mark there is an orthodox wedding taking place at night. In the upper left corner there is a blue light which represents the moon. Even though its night there still shines three spot lights on the bridesmaids to the right and groomsmen to the right and at center stage the bride and groom. The light as the moon or the sun help the audience know not only the time of day, but also how much time has elapsed over the duration of the play.

La Cage Aux Follies (Original Broadway Cast) http://youtu.be/1CJ23vPxvYo
Right off the bat at center stage is a costume that blossoms into a flower. The technology on the costume allows the audience to see something unachievable through dancing or singing. Then a minute later while poles fall fromt heavens to pick up the costume angels and take them away. An elevator system on stage is cool when you want to take people out of the scene or drop them in.

Scenes from Bye Bye Birdie http://youtu.be/BqHjBIJKzRc
Everyone on stage is in a wheely phone booth spinning round and round. This is an expressive to make a phone call and get contact with a friend. Than the technology wowed me when the train zoomed cross stage at the 39th second, it was probably a large cart on wheels, but to have that as a background is on a broadway stage is something else.

Madama Butterfly and Tech in rough times

The music is lively when times are good for Madama Butterfly, but once prince charming flees the scene, the clouds roll in and a thump or two later on the tummy and out comes this whining goldfish. This remake cartoon is comedic yet unfortunate; however it flowed well and kept me interested and curious with the visuals.  The fish in the tank is lonely like the mother, once she is born they remained connected by the cord that the captain happily cut.

Both drops in the economy now and in 1929 sprouted from same basic problems like the housing boom and the national credit. There were over production of goods, high unemployment and the value of the dollar was low. And in like in both times technology has and will fail if we are not able to finance our machines. Companies and banks go out of business and more and more people find themselves on the street starved.

baroque o blog

the only events that i can think that would be equivalent as tanes et circenses (bread and circus) are the free summer concerts held in new york city. Either at Central Park or the South Street Seaport you might be able to run into a Red bull like you would on campus and snag a freebee, other than that not much is free besides the music and a t-shirt if your lucky to grab it.

Music from Baroque that we still listen to today...baroque transformed.
Wolfgang Gartner- Wolfgangs 5th symphony
I enjoy both songs one for when i hit the books and the other for when im partying. The grammy nominated producer took something great and remixed it with his electro-house background and made something kids will listen to today.

Juan Carlos Delgado Oil Bed

http://www.binar.io/1902468/juan-carlos-delgado
I could not find a the exact work of art anywhere else, however on this website on the second image of Juan Carlos Delgados's page in the middle is the the white bed with oil on top. My first observation was that this nice twin bed is sitting the middle of a grass field. WHen do you ever see beds on grass, yet this picture represents the oil bed itself. The oil lies still on the bed like a black sheet of glass. In the oil you can see the reflection of the trees and get a sense of the environment around the bed.
I chose this work for its simplicity, on the other hand it has deep meaning.
